Gnome keyring auto login

date: Sat Jun 01 2019

When using chrome in xfce with lightdm a small tweak is required to make sure chrome can use the gnome-keyring to store passwords etc. This will probably be identical for other display managers, but I did not test. Tweaks:

  1. add to /etc/pam.d/lightdm
    # /etc/pam.d/lightdm
    auth optional
    session optional auto_start
  2. add at least Gnome Keyring: Secret service to your session autostart via menu => settings => session and startup or something alike on your system
  3. make sure using seahorse that you have a default ‘Login’ keyring set
